Names for Baby

I recently became a grandmother to the most beautiful baby boy I have ever laid eyes on. He grows more beautiful and charming every day.

My daughter, the precious child's mother is a very independent, strong willed, confident young woman. At her young age she already possesses confidence that it took several decades for me to pretend to have.

She carefully chose her son's first name so that it would sound good with his last name.

Good.

She made sure that the name could be made into good nicknames.

Good.

And then she "made up" his middle name.

YIKES.

That was my first response.

But soon I knew the name belonged to this beautiful child. How lucky he is to have a such a mother.

When I was expecting my children I was fascinated with the naming process. I loved reading the baby books and exploring the meaning of names.

Although I love the names we chose for our children I did not follow my heart. I followed the crowd and the direction of their father.

Now that I have more knowledge and lots of hindsight I thought it would be fun to take that trip again and look at interesting, meaningful, names.
